FAQs ON SUGARART
What does handmade or handcrafted means?
By definition, it literally means products are made by the hands of the artisan or maker. No mass production machinery involved. Hence an incredible amount of time taken can be taken to produce every single product.
Handmade or handcrafted products from Sweet Cake Details are created with great amount of care, quality and attention to details.
What are the toppers made of?
They are made with fondant, sugarpaste or gumpaste. For the small bites, I use "Ekte marsipan" from Odense made in Denmark. This marzipan is truly tasty and has 50% almond content which makes it not overly sweet.
Are the cake toppers edible?
Toppers made of fondant are indeed edible. Fondant hardens when exposed to air overtime but it remains bitable and chewable. Figurines made of fondant do contain wooden sticks but you will be informed accordingly.
However I would not recommend eating toppers made of 100% gumpaste because gumpaste hardens real hard when dries and may not be friendly to your teeth. Toppers like flowers and shoes, are generally made from 100% gumpaste and they are mainly made for display purposes. They may also contain wooden sticks or wires but you will be informed accordingly.
Even though the fondant and gumpaste are nut free, they may be produced in a facility that has contact with nuts, egg, dairy products, meat, seafood, soy/ wheat products etc. Hence, if you may have food allergy or food intolerance to any of the products above, please do not consume them. Marzipan on the other hand have high contents of almond.
What is tylose?
Tylose is an edible powdery gum ingredient that is used to create gumpaste. It helps to harden the fondant just a little bit more.
How can I preserve my toppers as keepsakes?
Most of my clients feedback that their toppers are too adorable to be eaten and would rather keep them as memorable keepsakes instead.
Simply store them carefully and properly in cool, dark (away from direct sunlight) and dry area. Moisture and direct UV light are the greatest enemies of the ingredients used. And never store them in the refrigerator or freezer too. Otherwise, the toppers will lose their original colour, shape and form.
How do I use your toppers?
My toppers are easy and fun to use. Simply place the toppers on your freshly frosted or fondant covered cake or cupcakes. Best to do this on the actual day of your event.
Do you make toppers for Christenings, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings etc?
I sure do!! I´m more than happy to create the toppers to suit your occasions. Feel free to contact me to discuss on how I can help customize your toppers the way you imagine them to be.
Do you sell cakes too?
No, I don't. I focus my time to make the best cake topper for you.
What does "made to order" mean?
It means that I will only start to make your toppers when I receive your confirmed and paid orders.
How soon can I place an order?
Cupcake disc toppers - You may place your order 2 weeks in advance of your event because toppers need time to dry well before shipping or self collected. You may self collect the order one week before the event.
Figurines - You may place your order 3 weeks in advance of your event because toppers need time to dry well before shipping or self collected. You may self collect the order one week before the event.
Can I order something customized if I need it in less than 2 or 3 weeks?
Please contact me before ordering if you need something sooner. It all depends on my schedule and time availability.
Why do some toppers look a little different from the photo on your website?
Every topper is handmade to order and that makes your topper unique. So, every order may not be identical and there may be slight variations. That´s the beauty of handmade art :)
How do you price your sugarart toppers?

How do I pay for the toppers I ordered?

How long can fondant toppers remain edible?
- If you wish to consume the fondant toppers, they can generally last for approximately 3 months from date of purchase.
- If you wish to have them as keepsakes, they can last a very long time.
Simply store them carefully and properly in cool, dark (away from direct sunlight) and dry area. High humidity, moisture and direct UV light are the greatest enemies of the ingredients used. And never store them in the refrigerator or freezer too. Otherwise, the toppers will lose their original colour, shape and form.

It depends on how your toppers are designed. Toppers are fragile in nature and careful packaging is crucial. Basically I only ship cupcake disc toppers, simple figurines and less intricate designed sugar flowers. Feel free to contact me to discuss if it is possible to ship your customized orders or it is best self collected.
How are the sugar flowers and cupcake discs packaged?
Due to their extreme fragile nature, I take extreme care in wrapping and packaging the toppers to prevent movement during shipping as much as possible. However, in the unlikely event the toppers are slightly broken or damaged, it can be easily repaired. I also include in the package a list of tips and tricks on how to handle your toppers with extra care. You may also order extra to ensure that you have enough.
However, if you have received a box that is ultimately beyond repair, please contact me at [email protected] with an explanation, a photo attachment of the damage product and your order number. I will liaise with my designated shippers and get back to you.
